About Us - Where Culture Becomes Texture

Some journeys begin with a plan.

Mine began with a feeling.

I’m Sunny, the founder of Sneagear. The story began years ago in Winnipeg, Canada, while I was studying Project Management at the University of Winnipeg. Life moved in a steady rhythm, lectures in the day, retail shifts in the evening, and quiet nights filled with thought. Stability was the only goal. Study. Work. Repeat!

Even within this familiar routine, something was alive in my mind.

Sneakers

Sneakers had become more than a home. Here, sneaker culture was more like identity portrayal rather than just fashion. People used to trade, collect, and store their boxes like it was a gold treasure. My room was lined with these pairs, shelves filled with color, silhouette, stitching,g and proportion. Each pair carried design, language, and movement. To me, sneakers represented identity expressed through form.

I collected them. I studied every panel and curve, observing how structure creates emotion. Because sneakers were never just footwear for me, each pair felt like a statement, a language, or an emotion spoken without words.

The Idea that shifted everything

One evening, as I scrolled through Instagram, I stopped. A tufting gun worked across stretched fabric. Threads layered into texture. Color emerged from an empty canvas with patience and precision. I saw the change happen.

And a thought formed:

What if sneaker culture could move beyond closets?

What if it could live within our spaces?

What if identity could be translated into the floor beneath us?

That idea carried energy.

So I began experimenting. The first sneaker rug was hand-tufted with curiosity and courage. I reimagined sneaker panels in wool. I studied proportion in a new dimension. Texture replaced leather. Yarn replaced leather. When I placed that first rug down, the space transformed. I stood there longer than I expected, just looking at it. Suddenly, it felt alive, personal, and more connected.

From one rug to a growing movement

From there, friends started asking for their own pieces. Store owners like Collab Shop, Hood Hoppers, and Cool Kicks also expressed interest. The more collaborations we crafted, the better the craft became. Sneagear has organically grown over time, not simply as the result of strategy, but rather with connections.

Over a hundred customized sneaker rugs were made and shipped. Customers sent messages expressing their thanks and sharing pictures of the spaces. The response was full of sentiments. It carried emotions of appreciation, enthusiasm, and pride.

It started as my personal obsession, and then it became shared. The reward was not measured in numbers. It was felt in the love that the designs were shown. I remember reading messages late at night, smiling quietly. People were sending photos of their homes, telling me the rug changed the energy of their space. That was when I understood, this was no longer about sneakers. It was about impact, and that was when passion turned into purpose.

Crafting with precision and presence

To elevate craftsmanship, I immersed myself in the world of traditional rug-making. Moving to India allowed me to collaborate directly with artisan communities, skilled creators who understand tufting as both a technique and an art.

Through this experience, I tried to achieve advanced knowledge in:

  • Wool grading and fibre density
  • Pile height balance
  • Tuft tension control
  • Hand-carving precision
  • Reinforced backing structure
  • Finishing and edge refinement

Each Sneagear rug is hand-tufted using premium New Zealand wool blended with fine viscose. This combination offers softness, structure, durability, and subtle sheen. The wool provides resilience and depth, while viscose adds dimension and light reflection.

There is no mass printing. No factory shortcuts. Each design is guided slowly and intentionally.

And every curve is shaped by hand and with precision, as it was all about creating something that feels powerful yet grounded.

Beyond Sneakers: Custom culture in every form

With the brand’s evolution, these requests grew beyond just sneakers.

Clients began to demand:

  • Anime-inspired rugs
  • Cartoon concepts
  • Automotive designs
  • Personal logos
  • Statement installations
  • Large custom area rugs

Sneagear adopted this evolution. Today, we design completely custom hand-tufted rugs tailored to your space, style, and color scheme. While inspired by street culture, art, motion, and personal symbolism, our modern rugs represent individuality. The designs combine comfort, durability, and sculptural detail. What began in our minds as a single hand-tufted rug has grown into an exclusive collection that offers comfort, style, and enduring strength.

A Global design journey

The first international order came from Dubai. I still remember refreshing the page again and again, just to make sure it wasn’t a glitch. A design imagined in Winnipeg’s quiet room was now traveling across the world. It felt unreal. I didn’t say much that day. I just sat with it.

That moment carried gratitude, disbelief, and quiet confidence all at once.

Soon after, homes across the United States welcomed Sneagear pieces into their interiors.

Photos would come in as rugs placed beneath sneaker walls, inside creative studios, in living rooms where every detail clearly mattered.

But everything changed at Sneaker Con.

If you’ve ever been there, you know the energy. Some sneakers on those tables, if signed by the right athlete or artist, could sell for lakhs of dollars. People travel across states just to see them. The crowd is intense and passionate

That’s sneaker culture.

And there, on the floor among all of it, was my rug.

For a second, I questioned whether it even belonged in that room.

Then someone stopped walking. He looked down. Bent slightly. Ran his hand across the surface.

“Bro, this is different.”

Others followed. Not asking the price first, but asking how it was made. Whether it was really hand-tufted. And was amazed by the unique designs

That was the moment I understood something.

Sneagear was never meant to exist only as a floor covering. It was born where modern culture meets everyday space by reflecting one’s personal taste as identity.

Sneaker culture wasn’t just accepting it. It was connecting with it.

Later, more orders came. Different cities. Different homes. More photos. More stories.

And every time someone sent a picture of their rug in their space, it felt personal. Not like a sale.

Like trust.

Because when someone chooses to place your work in their home, they’re not just buying something.

They’re letting your story become part of theirs.

That’s what Sneagear truly is.

The philosophy behind Sneagear

We believe floors deserve expression.

Sneagear exists for those who appreciate detail, the stitching of a sneaker, the layering of texture, the subtle carving along an edge.

For those who see culture as a lifestyle.

For those who value craftsmanship as much as creativity.

If you are looking for a modern hand-tufted rug, a culture-driven statement piece, or a fully personalized design created for your space, Sneagear transforms your vision into texture.

This journey began with quiet obsession.

Today, it continues as a global design movement rooted in craftsmanship, identity, and intention.
